This 1952 Ford 8N tractor was acquired by the seller in 2017 and subsequently modified with a flathead V8 and a Sherman auxiliary transmission. Additional work reportedly involved a repaint in red and gray as well as replacement of the engine cover, radiator, grille, wheels, tires, and fenders. Features include a four-speed manual transmission, a spring-mounted seat, a rear power take-off, a hydraulically-lifted rear hitch, and a drawbar. This 8N tractor is now offered at no reserve in North Carolina with a bill of sale.
The engine cover and fenders are said to have been replaced and subsequently repainted gray with red Ford script, while the frame, drivetrain, suspension, wheel hubs, and grille have been refinished in red. Features consist of side steps, headlights, a rear work light, rear half fenders, and V8 badging. The seller notes that wiring for the lights has not been installed.
Gray-painted wheels wear three-rib agricultural tires up front and 11-28 Galaxy tires out back. The tractor is equipped with independent rear drum brakes. Service under current ownership reportedly involved replacing the front axle bushings and steering joints.
The operator’s station features a gray steel seat suspended on a single flat spring. Controls consist of a hand throttle behind the steering wheel, a clutch pedal on the left, and twin brake levers on the right. The shift lever and starter button are mounted on top of the transmission case.
The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a tachometer and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. A choke control and a keyed ignition switch are located below the oil pressure gauge. Total operating hours are unknown.
The Ford flathead V8 was reportedly overhauled during the refurbishment, and work is said to have involved boring the cylinders .030″ over, installing an aftermarket camshaft, and replacing the pistons, rings, bearings, and water pump. The seller states that the engine was installed using a kit from Awesome Henry V8 Ford Tractor Conversions, and additional modifications consist of a five-gallon rear fuel tank, tubular exhaust headers, a dual exhaust system, a replacement wiring harness, a Delco 10SI alternator, a flex fan, and an aluminum radiator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Sherman auxiliary transmission. A hydraulically-lifted hitch assembly with a drawbar is mounted at the rear along with a PTO shaft.
