This 1975 Airstream International Land Yacht Sovereign is a double-axle travel trailer that was refurbished and modified following the seller’s acquisition in 2023. The project involved re-sealing the roof, replacing the weatherstripping, plumbing, electrical system, flooring, countertops, appliances, and climate control systems, and installing a 300Ah LiFePO4 battery system. The floor plan features a dinette with wraparound seating that converts to a bed, a galley, a central bedroom with two twin beds, and a bathroom. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, gear compartments, holding tanks, a furnace, and a Dometic air conditioner. This Airstream Sovereign is now offered with a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
Airstream introduced the Sovereign of the Road travel trailer in 1958 as part of the International line. This example has an aluminum exterior with the nose panel and lower bodywork finished in black. Features include pop-out windows, a folding boarding step, equipment lockers, and an entry door with a hinged screen panel. Two propane bottles are mounted on the tongue, and connections for fresh water, waste disposal, and 30-amp electrical service are positioned on the street side. The rooftop-mounted solar panels do not work properly, and the skylight windows are fogged and were resealed following a leak. The seller notes scratches and a puncture in the aluminum skin.
The trailer rides on dual axles and five-slot alloy wheels mounted with Carlisle tires. The chassis is equipped with a replacement power-operated tongue jack along with safety chains and four stabilizer jacks.
The interior is outfitted with white walls, woodgrain flooring, overhead lighting, and storage cabinets. The dinette area features wraparound seating with cushions trimmed in blue cloth upholstery, and the remotely controlled telescoping wood table can be lowered to form a sleeping surface. The window shades are difficult to operate.
The galley is equipped with butcher block countertops and blue-painted cabinets as well as a stainless-steel sink, a four-burner cooktop, a Magic Chef refrigerator and freezer, and residential-style power outlets. A Dometic air conditioner is mounted overhead, and other house equipment includes a Dyna-Glo furnace, a demand-service water heater, a Maxxair power-operated ceiling vent, and holding tanks for fresh water, gray water, and waste. Renogy power equipment consists of a 300Ah LiFePO4 battery system, a 3,000-watt inverter and charger, and a Rover charge controller.
The central bedroom houses two twin beds, USB power ports, overhead cabinets, under-bed drawers, side windows, and doorway curtains. The bathroom is located at the rear of the trailer and features a live-edge wood countertop, a porcelain sink, a toilet, and a wardrobe. The shower has a green tile surround, a seat, and a stone-style floor.
The seller notes corrosion and perforations on the underside.
