This 1963 Forester travel trailer is a 16′ single-axle model that has a dinette, a galley, and a rear bedroom. The seller reports the trailer has spent decades outdoors, and the weathered body is finished in white with a brown stripe. Amenities include jalousie windows, vinyl tile flooring, and woodgrain cabinetry along with a propane range, a Trav’ler icebox, and a furnace. Acquired by the seller in 2024, this Forester Model 16 is now offered at no reserve with a clean Montana title.
Forester travel trailers were produced in Forest City, Iowa, between 1958 and 1979, and through the 1960s their smaller models retained the “canned ham” shape that was popularized in the 1930s. The body of this example is finished in white with a brown stripe, and details include jalousie side windows, an entry door with a separate screened panel, a retractable boarding step, side marker lamps, and a rear bumper. Connections for water and electrical service are positioned on the street side. Fading, scuffs, and blemishes are visible on the body panels, and the lower pane of the left-rear window is cracked. The seller notes hail damage on the roof and the front and rear panels.
Steel wheels are mounted with 6.70-15″ tires that show age, and an older spare will accompany the trailer. Rust is visible on the wheels and hubcaps. The trailer rides on a solid axle with leaf springs. A propane tank sits on the tongue and is held in place by a rubber strap, and the chassis is equipped with a manual tongue jack.
The interior is outfitted with vinyl tile flooring, woodgrain paneling, a propane-fueled lamp, a ceiling vent, and wall sconces. The central galley has a laminate countertop and backsplash as well as a Trav’ler icebox and three-burner propane range, drawers and cabinets, and a residential-style power outlet. Two faucets are mounted over the porcelain sink, one of which has a hand pump. The adjacent dinette features bench seating with burgundy cloth cushions, windows on three sides, storage cabinets, and a table that can be lowered to form a sleeping surface.
The bedroom is located at the rear and is furnished with a sofa bed, a closet, a magazine rack, and an overhead shelf with scalloped trim. Lighting fixtures with shades are positioned above the side windows, and additional storage is provided under the sofa. Water stains are visible on the paneling under the rear window.
Rust is visible on the underside, and additional underbody photos can be viewed in the gallery below.
