This 1962 Porsche 238 Standard Star tractor reportedly underwent partial refurbishment in the Netherlands before being imported to the US two years ago and completed by the inventor of the IMS Solution for early water-cooled Porsches. An air-cooled diesel 2-cylinder engine sends power to the rear wheels via a 4-speed planetary gearbox with high and low ranges. Additional features include a hydraulically actuated 3-point hitch, V-belt mower drive, and rear power take-off. The seller has used the tractor for mowing a large property as well as performing maintenance including changes of the fuel filter, engine oil and hydraulic fluid. This 238 is offered with import documents and a Georgia bill of sale.
The tractor was repainted in the Netherlands during the refurbishment, with the red finish covering the bodywork, driveline, suspension, wiring, grease fittings, and accessories. Cream-colored steel wheels are mounted with Superking tractor tires front and rear.
The tractor is equipped with a Fritz-Meier hood as well as headlights and a stock suitcase-style muffler featuring an extended vertical outlet.
The driver is provided with a padded seat upholstered in red vinyl with yellow edging. The tractor is without instrumentation, though controls are present for the hand throttle, hitch, PTO, and other functions.
The diesel-powered vertical twin features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 26 horsepower. The engine was designed for 19:1 compression and features a 3-bearing crank, oil centrifuge and spinner, and remote thermometer. The seller has changed the fuel filter, engine oil and hydraulic fluid as well as addressing other maintenance items.
The Porsche-Deutz T25 variable-speed planetary gearbox provides a total of ten gears, with four high-range and four low-range forward speeds as well as two reverse speeds. The tractor features a 3-point hitch and rear power take-off with DIN 9611 Form A output. A V-belt mowing drive is also attached to the gearbox.
