1962 Airstream Trade Wind Land Yacht 24′

This 1962 Airstream Trade Wind is a 24′ travel trailer that was produced at the Santa Fe Springs, California, factory in Land Yacht self-contained specification. The floor plan features a dinette and lounge, a galley, a bathroom, and a rear bedroom. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, gear compartments, a Dometic air conditioner, a gas range, and a refrigerator. This Trade Wind was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered with a clean California title.

Airstream introduced the Trade Wind travel trailer in 1959, and the model has remained in production into the 2020s through various configurations. The aluminum exterior of this example features clamshell-style rear doors, hinged windows, an extended rear bumper, a side entry door with a screened panel, a retractable boarding step, equipment compartments, and Airstream badging. Blemishes and dents are present on various body panels around the trailer.

The double-axle chassis rolls on 15″ alloy wheels wearing 205/75 Goodyear Marathon tires, and stopping power is provided by electrically actuated drum brakes. A polished propane tank and a regulator are secured to the tongue. The configuration and operating status of the shore utility connections is unknown.

The interior is outfitted with beige woodgrain flooring, white-painted walls and cabinetry, curtains, and an area rug. The forward lounge area features wraparound seating with brown cushions along with a wooden dinette table. Open storage is positioned overhead, and other amenities include two wall sconces, residential-style power outlets, and an awning-style window.

The galley has a woodgrain countertop, a stainless-steel sink, a two-burner Force 10 propane range, and a Norcold refrigerator as well as drawers, under-counter cabinets, an overhead open shelf, and an exhaust vent. A Dometic air conditioner is mounted above along with a power-operated ceiling vent.

A sliding door opens to reveal a bathroom equipped with a built-in vanity, a sink, and a toilet in addition to a shower that has a tile surround, a seat, and a tethered sprayer. The adjacent aft bedroom houses a mattress, hinged side windows, a ceiling vent, and under-bed storage that is accessed via the clamshell rear doors.

The chassis is equipped with a ball coupler, a manual tongue jack, a seven-conductor trailering wire harness, and safety chains.
