This 1962 Airstream Globe Trotter is a 19′ single-axle aluminum travel trailer that was acquired by the seller in 2009 and subsequently refurbished. Work reportedly involved re-polishing the exterior, refreshing the interior, installing a dinette, and replacing the plumbing, electrical system, and holding tanks. The trailer features sleeping capacity for four, a sofa, a kitchenette, and a bathroom, while amenities include a folding entry step, a Norcold refrigerator, a two-burner cooktop, a furnace, a water heater, and two ceiling vents. Mechanical equipment consists of dual propane tanks, wastewater tanks, a freshwater tank and pump, and a 500-watt power supply/charger. This Airstream Globe Trotter is offered with manufacturer’s literature, accessories, spare parts, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
Airstream introduced the Globe Trotter travel trailer in 1953, and the 19′ model debuted in 1962. The aluminum-clad exterior of this example was re-polished during the refurbishment, and features include six windows, a rear bumper, a single entry door, a folding boarding step, and Airstream badging. Additional equipment includes dual 30 lb. aluminum propane tanks, taillamps, and shore connections for power and water. The seller notes a scratch on the right-front body panel.
The single-axle chassis rolls on 15″ steel wheels that wear polished covers and are wrapped in 225/75 Power King tires, while a full-size spare is mounted on the back of the trailer. Stopping power is provided by electric drum brakes. The trailer is equipped with a tongue jack, a seven-pin trailering harness, and a breakaway safety device.
The interior is outfitted with a galley kitchenette, two sitting areas, and a rear bathroom. Work performed during the refurbishment reportedly involved installing a black tank, repainting the interior white, and replacing the flooring, cabinetry, countertops, holding tanks, plumbing, water heater, and electrical system. The dinette features wraparound seating upholstered in blue cloth, and the telescoping table can be lowered to form a sleeping surface measuring 82″ long and 46″ wide. Curtains are fitted around each window, and ceiling vents are mounted fore and aft.
The kitchenette is equipped with two sinks, a faucet, a Norcold refrigerator, an Atwood two-burner propane stove, a Gasland water heater, and a 120-volt power outlet. A white composite countertop has been fitted, and storage consists of overhead cabinets, four drawers, a pull-out trash can, and two lower cabinets. The adjacent sofa folds out into a sleeping surface that measures 75″ long and 48″ wide. House equipment includes a furnace, a Progressive Dynamics 500-watt power supply/charger, a holding tank monitor, and a Kenwood touchscreen DVD player with Bluetooth capability.
The bathroom is located at the rear behind an accordion-style door, and it is equipped with a hinged window, a tub and shower, a tethered showerhead, a toilet, and a wardrobe. A round vessel sink and countertop are fitted to a vanity cabinet, and a toiletry compartment with a mirror is located above.
