1959 Porsche-Diesel 308 Super Tractor

This 1959 Porsche-Diesel Super 308 tractor spent time in Germany under previous ownership and underwent a refurbishment prior to the owner’s acquisition in 2023, after which it was imported to the US. Work is said to have included a repaint in red as well as an overhaul of the 2,467cc three-cylinder diesel and the four-speed manual transmission, with the latter being modified with higher gear ratios. Equipment includes a rear portal axle, front and rear power take-off shafts, headlights and taillights, a Porsche-Diesel branded seat cover, a passenger seat mounted on the right fender, and a draw bar with a tow ball. This Porsche-Diesel tractor is now offered by the selling dealer in Naples, Florida, with a German registration document and a bill of sale.

Porsche-Diesel introduced the Super 308 tractor in 1957, and it remained in production until 1963. This example is finished in red and was repainted under prior ownership. Features include a rear-hinged hood, a stainless steel exhaust stack, Porsche-Diesel badging, headlights and taillights, rear half fenders, marker lights, and front and rear PTO output shafts. The tractor is also equipped with a rear draw bar with a tow ball.

Beige-painted six-lug wheels wear 16.9-30″ BKT TR-135 rear agricultural tires and 7.50-20″ Stomil Olsztyn front rubber. Stopping power is from independent rear drum brakes.

The spring-suspended operator’s seat wears a red vinyl cover with yellow piping and Porsche-Diesel embroidery, while a jump seat with a matching pad is mounted on the right. Controls consist of a throttle, a transmission shifter, a rear power take-off lever, and brake pedals.

A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an instrument panel that houses a 60-km/h speedometer, an engine-temperature gauge, ignition and starter controls, a headlight switch, and warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 4,100 kilometers (~2,600 miles). No hour meter is fitted, and total operating hours are unknown.

The air-cooled 2,467cc three-cylinder diesel is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and is said to have been overhauled approximately ten years ago. An oil change and lubrication was performed prior to import.

Power is sent to the rear portal axle via an four-speed manual transmission that was reportedly overhauled at the same time as the engine. The selling dealer notes that the gearing has been modified to increase top end speed.
