1958 Porsche-Diesel Standard 218 Tractor

This 1958 Porsche-Diesel Standard 218 tractor reportedly spent time in the Bavarian Alps region of Germany before it was purchased by the seller in 2020 and subsequently imported to the US. The tractor wears weathered red paint, and power comes from a 1.6-liter air-cooled diesel twin paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes headlights, taillights, and turn signals in addition to a padded seat, a fender-mounted jump seat, and a rear power take-off shaft. This Porsche-Diesel tractor is now offered at no reserve in Pennsylvania with a bill of sale.

The 218 was the third generation of the Porsche-Diesel Standard series and was produced in four variants. This U 218 utility example wears faded red paint and is equipped with headlights, taillights, and turn signals as well as rear half fenders, a forward-hinged hood, Porsche-Diesel badging, and a trailer wire harness connection. Decals have been applied to the engine cover, seat back, and right-rear fender.

Beige-painted steel wheels are accented by red hubs and are mounted with three-rib front and agricultural-tread rear tires. The tractor weighs approximately 3,600 pounds, and stopping power is from independent rear drum brakes. Scratches are present on the wheels.

The spring-suspended operator’s seat wears a padded red vinyl cover with white piping. A wooden jump seat is mounted on the left fender, and controls consist of a hand throttle, a shifter, a PTO lever, and brake pedals.

The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an instrument panel that houses a headlight switch, ignition and starter controls, warning lights, and an hour meter. Total operating hours are unknown.

The 1.6-liter air-cooled diesel twin was factory rated at 25 horsepower and is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a portal axle.

The tractor is equipped with front and rear pin hitches, a draw bar, and a rear power take-off shaft.
