The John Deere 40 series was introduced in 1953 and remained in production until 1955. This one is a Tricycle that received body and paint work under previous ownership. Fresh vinyl decals were added by the seller, who notes some waves in its sheet metal. Replacement lights and lug nuts were also fitted under current ownership.
The operator’s station has a steel seat with black vinyl upholstery. Controls include a hand throttle, a hydraulic hand lever, a clutch pedal, and pedals for the individual rear brakes. The shift lever is centrally located on top of the transmission case.
