This 1953 Airstream Globe Trotter is an 18′ single-axle travel trailer that was acquired by the current owner in 2016. The trailer features a dinette, a kitchenette, and a bedroom, while amenities include a double bed, a refrigerator, a sink, a range, a ceiling vent, and hinged windows. Work under current ownership reportedly involved repairing the door and camp-side panels, painting the interior, and replacing the subfloor, brakes, tongue jack, and air conditioner. This Airstream Globe Trotter is offered by the seller on behalf of his mother with spare parts and a clean Michigan title in the owner’s name.
Airstream introduced the 18′ Globe Trotter travel trailer in 1953, and the company has continued to produce variants of multiple lengths since. The aluminum body of this example features a rear storage compartment, a tongue-mounted storage box, a single camp-side entry door, a power-operated tongue jack, Airstream badging, and connections for propane, fresh water, and electrical service. Work under current ownership is said to have included refurbishing the door, door frame, entry step, and camp-side body panels as well as polishing the exterior. Dings and scratches are visible on the body panels. The furnace stack and propane bottle platform have been removed and are included in the sale.
Steel wheels with polished trim rings and hubcaps are mounted with Carlisle tires. The electric brakes were reportedly replaced under current ownership.
The interior is outfitted with white-painted walls, curtains, woodgrain cabinets, and green carpets. The dinette features bench seating upholstered in green cloth, a wall-mounted light fixture, and a table that can be lowered to form a sleeping surface. A Coleman Mach air conditioner is mounted overhead and was installed in 2022 per the seller.
The kitchenette is equipped with a laminate countertop, a sink and faucet, a slide-out work surface, a Princess range with a hinged cover, and a residential-style power outlet. The seller notes that the cooling system in the Marvel refrigerator has been replaced with marine-style components. The bedroom offers a double bed, a ceiling vent, a wardrobe, three windows, and under-bed storage that is accessible from the outside of the trailer. The furnace and freshwater tank have been removed, and the operating condition of the propane lamp is unknown.
The belly panels have been patched, and the seller notes rust on the frame.
