This 1950 Ford 8N Tractor was restored by the late owner between 2021 and 2024. Work included replacing the 120ci side-valve inline-four, radiator, fuel tank, tires, and hitch components as well as repainting the body and drivetrain in gray and red. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a brake light, a rear work light, a grille guard, a spring-suspended seat, independent rear brakes, and headlights. This 8N Tractor is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the owner’s spouse in Missouri with a bill of sale.
Ford produced the 8N series from 1947 to 1952. The engine cover and fenders on this example were refinished in Ford Gray with red script, while the frame, drivetrain, and suspension were refinished in Ford Red. Features include a grill guard, a brake light, a rear work light, dual headlights, rear half fenders, and side steps.
Gray-finished steel wheels are mounted with 4.00-19 BKT tires in the front and 11.2-28 Roadguider tires in the rear. The rear wheels feature reversible center dishes, and braking is handled by independent rear drums. Refurbishment work consisted of replacing the tires, rear hubs, brake shoes, and rear axle shaft gaskets.
The steel seat wears a black vinyl cover with Ford Tractor insignia. Controls consist of a clutch pedal on the left, twin brake levers on the right, and a shift lever that is centrally mounted atop the transmission case. The hand throttle control assembly behind the steering wheel was replaced during the refurbishment.
The black three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an ammeter, a temperature gauge, an oil pressure gauge, and a replacement proofmeter. A replacement choke control is located below the oil pressure gauge, and a keyed ignition switch is positioned under the left side of the cowl. The hour meter shows 3 hours of runtime, and total runtime is unknown.
The tractor is powered by a replacement 120ci gasoline side-valve inline-four that drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Service between 2021 and 2024 included replacing the exhaust manifold, radiator, fuel tank, starter, water pump, crankshaft pulley, camshaft gear, crankshaft gear, governor assembly, and the pre-cleaner assembly as well as various gaskets, bushings, and bearings.
The tractor is equipped with a rear power take-off and a hydraulically lifted three-point hitch assembly with a drawbar. The top link, stabilizer bar, drawbar lift arms, stay straps, and safety chain were replaced in 2023.
