This 1949 Ford 8N tractor was acquired in 2020 by the seller, who subsequently carried out a refurbishment that included a repaint in gray with red accents. The gasoline-powered 120ci L-head inline-four was overhauled and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a 12-volt electrical system, an alternator, a grille guard, a rear power take-off, a three-point hitch with a draw bar, headlights, and taillights. Additional work included refreshing the steering, electrical, controls, and braking systems along with replacement of the tires, headlights, and gauges. This 8N tractor is now offered at no reserve in Pennsylvania with a parts manual, a service manual, refurbishment records and photos, and a bill of sale.
The engine cover and fenders were repainted gray with red Ford script under current ownership, while the frame, drivetrain, suspension, and wheel hubs were refinished in red. Equipment includes replacement dual headlights, a grille guard with a tow ball, a rear power take-off, running boards, and a three-point hitch with a draw-bar and tow ball. The drag link assemblies and lower lift arms were replaced under current ownership.
The six-bolt front and eight-bolt rear wheels were refinished in gray and mounted with ribbed tires up front and 11.2-28 Harvest King Field Pro All Purpose tires at the rear under current ownership. Braking is handled by independent rear drums that were refreshed under current ownership. The front axle center support pin, steering box bearings, and front wheel bearings and seals were replaced per the seller.
The replacement spring-mounted seat is finished in gloss black. Controls consist of a hand throttle behind the steering wheel, a clutch by the left foot, and twin levers for the independent brakes on the right. The shift lever sits next to the starter button atop the transmission case.
A replacement three-spoke steering wheel frames replacement ammeter and oil pressure gauges. No additional instrumentation is present, therefore total mileage is unknown. The ignition switch, keys, and wiring were replaced under current ownership. The seller estimates having driven approximately three hours.
The gasoline-powered 120ci inline-four was overhauled under current ownership with a replacement starter solenoid, exhaust, 12-volt battery, cylinder sleeves, pistons, bearings, rods, valves, valve springs, gaskets, and ignition components. The updraft carburetor was overhauled and the fuel lines were replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
A shop manual, a parts catalog, and refurbishment receipts and photos are included in the sale.
Photos taken during the build can be viewed in the gallery.
