This 1947 Westcraft Sequoia is a 28’ dual-axle travel trailer that spent approximately three decades in a vintage trailer collection in Indiana before being purchased by the seller as a project in 2021. A subsequent three-year refurbishment performed by the seller’s restoration company included a custom interior redesign utilizing pecan-stained Russian birch wood for the cabinetry and paneling in addition to spray-foam insulation and updated wiring and plumbing. The living quarters are further outfitted with a refurbished 1947 sleeper couch upholstered in red leather, a bed with a custom memory-foam mattress, mirrored stainless-steel countertops, LVF flooring, a gas/electric range, a Smeg refrigerator, and a mini-split air conditioner. The exterior wears a tri-color blue and silver paint scheme and features a 10-window clerestory roof as well as a custom rear bumper and hitch receiver. This Westcraft Sequoia is now offered with photos from the refurbishment and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.

The Westcraft brand was introduced in 1932 by the George T. Hall Company of Los Angeles, California, and was revived in 1946 after a hiatus to focus on defense programs during World War II. Produced alongside the less-expensive Westwood line, the Westcraft models remained the company’s top-of-the-line offering, with post-war construction incorporating wood or aluminum framing and ribs with heavy-gauge aluminum skin. Westcraft models carried names inspired by popular California destinations and featured “bread loaf” styling topped by a clerestory, or Pullman, roof and painted in enamel.

This Sequoia features five clerestory windows on each side and was stripped to bare aluminum before being refinished in a custom blue, dark blue, and silver combination during the refurbishment, which was performed by Above & Beyond Customs in Indiana between 2021 and 2024. A custom rear bumper and hitch receiver were fitted during the project, and a tongue platform was fabricated to hold dual 40-lb propane tanks and a mini-split condenser unit that was finished in dark blue to match the trailer’s exterior. The glass, screens, and seals were replaced during the project.

The wheels were refinished in dark blue and mounted with load-range E 225/75R15 National Road Max tires. The axles were refreshed during the project and are sprung by semi-elliptical leaves, while the drum brakes were also refurbished.

The interior was stripped and fitted with replacement wiring, spray-foam insulation, and replacement sub-floor material topped with LVF vinyl flooring. Replacement Russian birch wood panels are finished in a pecan stain under five coats of Matrix clear coat, and matching cabinetry was constructed based on templates derived from the removed cabinetry while re-using the cabinet hardware.

Furnishings include a period sleeper couch that was refurbished and trimmed in red Relicate distressed leather, which also covers a pair of chairs positioned next to a pull-out table in the front lounge area. The kitchen features mirrored stainless-steel surfaces that host a Kraus stainless-steel sink plumbed to an InSinkErator hot water dispenser. Appliances include a Smeg refrigerator and a Bertazzonni range with four gas burners and an electric oven as well as a Smeg toaster, a Smeg coffee maker, and a Nostalgia Retrowave microwave. The trailer features clean- and gray-water connections but is not equipped with any water-holding tanks.
