This 1937 John Deere Model B is said to have been refurbished in 2005 before it was acquired by the seller in 2013. The tractor is finished in green with yellow accents, and power comes from a 149ci twin paired with a four-speed unsynchronized manual transmission. Features include a rear power take-off, a mechanical differential brake, and a spring-mounted seat. Service performed under current ownership reportedly included the installation of a replacement radiator, a rebuild of the carburetor, and a repaint of the fuel tank. This unstyled Model B is now offered at no reserve in Helotes, Texas, on a bill of sale.
The Model B was produced at John Deere’s Waterloo, Iowa, factory from 1935 to 1952. This example features the pre-1938 “unstyled” design and is said to have been repainted in its current green with yellow lettering under previous ownership in 2005. Features include a narrow front axle track, a wide rear track, and a rear power take-off. The fuel tank was reportedly cleaned and repainted under current ownership. Scratches on the left side of the hood can be seen in the gallery.
The tractor features yellow-painted wheels, and stopping power is provided by a mechanical expanding differential brake.
The green spring-mounted seat provides seating for one. The Model B features hand and foot controls as well as a black three-spoke steering wheel. No gauges are outfitted, and total mileage is unknown.
The 149ci twin was factory rated at 16 horsepower. A replacement radiator was installed under the seller’s ownership, and the carburetor was also rebuilt. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed unsynchronized manual transmission.
