This 1957 Minneapolis-Moline Model U is a row-crop tractor that was purchased by the current owner approximately 25 years ago and reportedly underwent a refurbishment that was completed in 2010. The tractor is finished in orange with a matching steel seat, and power comes from a diesel 283ci inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes red-painted steel wheels, headlights, a rear spotlight, and a rear power take-off. A replacement battery was installed in preparation for the sale. This Minneapolis-Moline Model U is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in South Salt Lake, Utah on a bill of sale.
The Model U tractor was introduced in 1938, and this example is said to have been repainted in its current orange with a red hood stripe in 2010. Equipment includes a rear power takeoff, a rear spotlight, red, yellow, and black Minneapolis-Moline hood graphics, and headlights with black-painted buckets.
The red-painted steel wheels are mounted with ribbed 7.50–13 American Farmer tires up front and 18.4–30 Kelly tires at the rear. Stopping power is provided by rear mechanical drums.
The three-spoke steering wheel is fitted with a brodie knob and is mounted ahead of a sprung steel seat. Instrumentation includes gauges for water temperature, amperage, and oil pressure. The tractor is not fitted with an hour meter, and total runtime is unknown.
The diesel-powered 283ci D283-4 inline-four was factory rated at 40 horsepower. A replacement battery was installed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission with reverse.
