1951 International Harvester TD-6 Crawler

This 1951 International Harvester TD-6 crawler was refurbished under prior ownership before being purchased by the selling dealer in 2022, reportedly from a museum in Connecticut. The tractor is finished in red and powered by a 248ci inline-four diesel linked with a five-speed manual transmission and track drive. Features include a bench seat, headlights, steel treads, and a rear pin hitch. This TD-6 crawler is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer in Illinois with a bill of sale.

The International Harvester TD-6 crawler debuted in 1940 as the smallest offering in the company’s tractor line, and it remained in production through various revisions until 1969. This example is said to have been repainted red under prior ownership and features headlights with stone guards, a grille with horizonal openings and a screen backing, a silver-finished exhaust stack, and a rear pin hitch with a shackle.

The tank tread system utilizes steel tracks, front idlers, and rear drive sprockets.

The open operator’s station houses a bench seat upholstered in black vinyl. Engine speed is controlled with a hand throttle, and the tractor is steered using hand-controlled directional levers. Individual brake pedals are positioned on the left and right.

The steel dash houses gauges for a coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The tractor is not equipped with an hour meter, therefore total runtime is unknown.

The 248ci diesel inline-four uses gasoline to start and run the engine until the operating temperature reaches the level necessary for diesel combustion. Power is sent to the tracks via a five-speed manual transmission. The battery was recently replaced, and the selling dealer notes leaks from the drivetrain.
