This 1947 Ford 2N tractor is said to have been refurbished prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2021 and is finished in gray with a red chassis and running gear. Power is from a 120ci gasoline inline-four linked to a three-speed manual transmission and a Sherman auxiliary transmission. Additional equipment includes a Dearborn front bumper, headlights, a taillight, a rear work light, an air intake stack, a rear power take-off, a three-point hitch, and a steel seat with a gray vinyl cover. Service under current ownership is said to have involved changing the engine oil and hydraulic fluid as well as servicing the oil-bath air cleaner. This 2N tractor is now offered at no reserve in Georgia with a bill of sale.
The Model 2N was Ford’s second and final design in collaboration with Harry Ferguson before the 1945 dissolution of their partnership. The bodywork on this example is said to have been repainted gray with red trim under previous ownership. Features include a headlight, a single taillight, a rear work light, an air intake stack, rear half fenders, and a Ferguson System badge on the engine cover.
Silver-finished steel wheels are accented by red hubs and are mounted with 4.00-19 Deestone tires up front and 12.4-28 Gateway and Galaxy tires out back. Cracks are visible in the sidewall of the left-rear tire. Stopping power is provided by rear drum brakes.
The operator’s station features a steel seat with a black vinyl cover that displays the Ford logo. Controls consist of a hand throttle behind the steering wheel, a clutch pedal, and twin brake levers for the independent rear brakes. The Sherman auxiliary transmission shift lever is located forward of the left running board, and the primary shifter and starter button are mounted on top of the transmission case.
The black three-spoke steering wheel is fitted with a Brodie knob and sits ahead of an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and a non-functional ammeter. A keyed ignition switch is mounted on the steering column support, and controls for the choke and headlights are found below. The tractor is not equipped with an hour meter, therefore total operating hours are unknown.
The gasoline-powered 120ci side-valve inline-four was factory rated at 26.5 horsepower and 84 lb-ft of torque. Equipment includes an updraft carburetor, a six-volt electrical system, a generator, and an electric starter. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a Sherman auxiliary transmission. Service under current ownership reportedly involved changing the oil and hydraulic fluid as well as servicing the oil-bath air cleaner.
The tractor is equipped with a rear power take-off shaft and a hydraulically lifted three-point hitch assembly with a drawbar. The seller states that the PTO output shaft has been replaced with an aftermarket 1-3/8″ diameter unit.
